summer 2009
despite a mass exodus of bpg'ers defecting to cults in other states, bpg continues to thrive. it's been a while since i have updated this page. sarge did a marvelous job of defending the bpg belt for over a year with 3 pr's. however, it was at shamrock, that hot rod wrested the title from her. hot rod is now the defender of byrd park. mad macks added a half marathon to his belt under the tutelage of sarge. smarting jones showed that he is back, with some excellent efforts this spring. fat boy is, well, fat boy. creegan pr'ed a couple of times as she has managed to turn her fortunes around, from previous years. the bpg won a 5th best running group award from the rrrc, as they decided to retire the award. in a long overdue move, 2.0, perry como, and sarge received special awards for their major roles in the bpg. bpg gear continues to evolve, from tees, temp tats, long sleeve tees, running hats, sweatshirts, hoodies,to bpg windbreakers, long sleeve tekkies, baseball caps, beanies, a newer version of the running cap, a waffle weave, to .......nope. you're gonna have to wait and see.our numbers are up on saturdays. the libbie loop and longer runs are flourishing. the intermediates have new blood and speaking of blood, the beginners/recreationals have established the ninja warrior training program as a staple for base conditioning. secret track, secret hill repeats, detention run and fred's bike rides are clearly established and doing well. things are looking good. thanks to all for helping make this happen.
toy run 2009. since moving the race to innsbrook, the numbers of racers, kid's run participants, and toys donated have continued to rise. but this year, the rrrc has designated the toy run as the club's 5k championship. woo hoo, can't wait to see how this turns out!
